On Friday, March 15, the 2nd Kyushu-Vietnam Agriculture Forum “Development of Sustainable and Environmentally Friendly Agriculture: Toward Japan-Vietnam Joint Cooperation for Post-SDGs” was held in a face-to-face style at the Jonathan KS Choy Cultural Center, Kyushu University. This forum was jointly hosted by the Consulate-General of Vietnam in Fukuoka and our institute.
Mr. Vu Chi Mai, Consul General of Vietnam, and Dr. Miki Nakao, Dean of Faculty of Agriculture, Kyushu University, gave opening remarks. In the first part of morning session, four Japanese speakers, who are engaged in advanced research, business, and farming related to sustainable agriculture based in Fukuoka, introduced their practical seeds. In the second part of the afternoon, the Vietnamese speakers introduced challenges and technological needs related to agriculture and educational research in their provinces and universities. In general discussion session that followed, there was a lively debate on future Japan-Vietnam collaboration in the fields of agriculture and environment, with Dr. Hyakumura of our institute as the general moderator.
The forum was conducted in a friendly atmosphere from start to finish. Speakers and participants from both Japan and Vietnam actively exchanged opinions on “Seeds and Needs,” making the forum a meaningful event for participants from both countries. It is hoped that this forum will serve as a starting point for future collaboration between Japan and Vietnam in the agricultural and environmental fields.
